What is the difference between a needle valve and ball valve?
Datetime: 2016-06-17    Visit: 514
Needle valves  were always in low and high speed carburetor circuits used
before the "Feds" sealed chainsaws weed whackers, lawn mowers, go karts,

snow blowers. These were all gravity fed applications. Snowmobiles had

or small diaphragm fuel pumps to feed carburetors that were located higher or

at the same level as the gas tanks. Even then the fuel was controlled by
needles and seats within the Mikuni Carburetors. Inside these carburetors
fine pilot jet needles controlled the idle circuits The floats covered an
ample supply of fuel to supply gas to the high speed jets. Still today the
idle (zero pressure) circuits on Holley Carburetors are manually
adjustable. It's a much finer precise adjustment than ball and gate valves
are used in high flow high pressure water and oil applications.
